Lil Mazzara's: Your New Favorite Dining Experience in Athens, AL

Wife ordered Chicken Marsala and I had the Meatballs with Pasta. My food was amazing! Wife’s was ok but it came out white and Marsala wine is red. It tasted good but didn’t appear to taste like Marsala. Service was great and so was ambiance. Light was too low for our old eyes but we managed with our phone lights. It was a cold day and very cold in the restaurant making it unpleasant with our coats off. Kinda pricey for Athens.

I think we found one of our new favorite places to eat! So many great menu choices! Went for my husband’s birthday and Andrew was great! Service was on point! We were completely satisfied with everything! Thinking about going back for the wine dinner in July. Just be aware that we were told that the menu can change frequently. But this gives you an idea about the types of items that they serve.

The entire service was good even if I doubt that can mirror a truly Sicilian and Italian dinner's style.In Italy where I come from we do not use on our dishes so much overwhelming cream on our ravioli e more.Focaccia was delicious.The cioppino appetizers was good musseln and norma size l mollusc ...Still too much way of brod ..it was unneecessary.An italian dish is prepared with simplicity and taste to the eyes and the palat.The canelloni was the wrong choice of pasta with guanciale which it pairs better with bucatini pasta a bigger diameter of spaghetti.The guanciale can slide better through the pasta and create an osmosis with other ingredients without separating them. My mushroom risotto was not what I excpected...The rice was cooked too long and I doubt it was Riso Arborio for risotti,however I cannot verify because the size of. The grain was deceiving in texture .The mushroom were too big size,almost added with unloved care and very salty.Making a risotto is not making just the rice and adding large pieces of mushroom but caring for the dish ..the was missing parsley and 1/2 cup.of DRY white wine. And I Add a little butter that it helps to form a soft taste to the dish.

Nice spot! Food was good and server was amazing! The chicken Alfredo was alright, my wife’s pasta was good (forgot the name), the meatballs and bread was AMAZING!!! We finished off with the brownie which was delicious! I’ll be back to try more!

This is an awesome addition to Athens! Date night dinner here was excellent. They have blue cheese olives for making real dirty martinis. The fresh focaccia was hot and delicious. The aioli dip for the steak fries was probably the biggest surprise it was so good. The atmosphere is very well done. The servers were friendly and knew the menu and ingredients. This is a great place for foodies. Definitely adding this to our list!

A cozy place that embraces the Italian motif in spirit. The perfect music, artwork and ambiance for an intimate Italian dining experience and excellent meal. Don't skimp here, order the appetizer, the main dish and coffee and dessert. All were well prepared and very satisfying. Service was attentive but discreet, there when needed, knowledgeable, friendly, then faded back. I can't speak to the wine, we didn't have any, but if it's on the same caliber as the meal, it must be excellent. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will be returning.

So excited to have an Italian restaurant in Athens. We made a reservation online and were seated right away. Such a nice cozy restaurant, great atmosphere. Our server was wonderful, made great wine recommendations to pair with our food. My husband got the rigatoni and I got the orecchiette, both were fantastic. We had the meatballs for the appetizer and they were so flavorful. We decided to have a drink for dessert, my husband ordered the old fashioned and I had the French 75, both were a very nice way to end the meal. Will most definitely be going back!

Solid little italiano... but no Italian tap beers? Get the meatballs, family recipe and stupid good... mushrooms had a great flavor but not a great execution from the kitchen (overdone). The people were nice which made the place get an extra star.
